Seckel Earns OAC Weekly Laurels

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio –Freshman David Seckel (Bexley/Bexley) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Player of the Week announced the league office Monday afternoon.

Seckel was a perfect 6-0 last week between singles and doubles competition, helping the Cardinals to a 3-0 record.

Playing at No. 3 singles, Seckel went 3-0 and lost just one set on the week. Four times Seckel won sets by scores of 6-0.

In doubles, he teamed up with freshman Will Willson to go 3-0 in the top slot. The duo defeated their opponents by a combined score of 24-9.

Seckel’s selection marks the third time this season an Otterbein men’s tennis player has won the weekly award. His doubles partner Willson has earned the honor twice already this year.

Seckel and the rest of the Otterbein men’s tennis team will return to action this Wednesday, April 24, when they head to Tiffin, Ohio to take on Heidelberg University for a 3:30 p.m. match.
