AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Three members of the Otterbein University men’s tennis team were selected to All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) teams, the league office announced Wednesday.
Junior
Ryan Shutt (Coshocton/Coshocton) and freshman
Will Willson (Commerce Twp., Mich./Detroit Catholic Central) earned a nod on to the first team, while freshman
David Seckel (Bexley/Bexley) received a spot on the second team.
Shutt earned All-OAC first team after posting a 15-5 overall singles record, with a 7-2 mark at No. 2 singles against conference foes. An All-OAC second-team selection in 2011, Shutt also went 15-4 overall at No. 2 doubles.
Willson received a nod on the first team after finishing 18-4 overall at No. 1 singles in his rookie campaign. A two-time OAC Player of the Week this year, Willson posted a 9-2 singles record in conference play and teamed with Seckel to go 18-5 overall at No. 1 doubles.
Seckel earned second-team honors with a 10-2 record vs. OAC opponents at No. 3 singles. Also a conference player of the week, he posted a 19-4 overall singles record and paired with Willson to make one of the best doubles teams in the OAC. The duo finished the season 10-2 against conference opponents.
The Cardinals, under fifth-year head coach Mark Anderson, finished the 2012-13 season 16-7 overall and advanced to the OAC Tournament Championship match.
The All-OAC teams are voted on by the coaches from all 10 conference institutions.
