WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Senior Wes Meadows and sophomore Sean Kettering added to their trophy cases Wednesday morning, each landing on the AVCA/Rawlings All-Mideast Region team.

Meadows, a utility player from Marion/Ridgedale was voted to the first team while Kettering, a shortstop from Malvern, garnered second-team honors.

Meadows also brought in a second accolade Wednedsday, receiving 2013 Mideast Region Player of the Year honors by D3baseball.com after being unanimously voted to the first team.

The do-it-all senior turned in a spectacular final season, becoming the first Otterbein baseball player since 1978 to be named Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Player of the Year. He eclipsed school records for most hits (212), total bases (380), runs scored (147) and doubles (52).

Now a three-time All-Region pick, Meadows led the conference in batting average (.420), home runs (10) walks (31), slugging percentage (.748) and on-base percentage (.527)  while also ranking second in RBI (52), fourth in runs scored (46) and hits (60), and fifth in stolen bases (17). He set a new school record by compiling a 26-game hitting streak.

In addition to his usual catching and third base duties, Meadows also impressed on the mound with a 6-1 record, 3.09 E.R.A, and 56 strikeouts over 48.1 innings pitched.

Kettering followed up an impressive freshman campaign with an even better sophomore season, leading the conference with 53 RBI while setting a new Otterbein single-season record with 20 doubles. He started all but one game, hitting .321 and scoring 32 runs.

Kettering was successful on all 15 stolen-base attempts and held a .939 fielding percentage en route to 124 fielding assists.
