WESTERVILLE, Ohio - The Professional Insurance Agents Association of Ohio, Inc. (PIA) recently presented Otterbein University senior Brooke Albright with the Rising Star of the Year Award. The honor came at the Awards and Conferment Ceremony Luncheon, held Wednesday, Oct. 3 in conjunction with the IIAO/PIA Joint Conference.

Alrbight, a Pemberville, Ohio native and graduate of Eastwood High School, has been a three-year starter for the Cardinal softball team as an infielder. She ranked fifth on the team last season in batting average (.324), hits (33), and RBI (15) in helping Otterbein softball to the best single-season mark in school history.

A Business Administration major with a minor in accounting, she is also a two-time Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference and All-District selection, boasting a near-perfect grade-point average and making the Dena’s List every term since arriving on campus. In addition, she deveotes time serving as the Vice President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

The PIA Rising Star of the Year Award goes to an intern who has given an outstanding performance during their time within the program. Nominations are made by intern supervisors at host agencies and companies.

Albright spent five weeks with The Hartford Group and five weeks with Diversified Insurance Service, LLC during throughout the summer.  She worked on projects such as creating a marketing plan and an email campaign to provide customers with useful information.
