AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – Otterbein University junior
Julie Stroyne (Venetia, Pa./Peters Twp.) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Player of the Week in women’s tennis announced the league office Monday.
Stroyne earned the weekly nod for the third time this season, and seventh time in her career.
The two-time reigning OAC Player of the Year recently completed a dominant 2012-13 campaign on the courts for the Cardinals. Stroyne finished the season 19-0 at No. 1 singles, winning 18 in straight sets. She also compiled a 16-3 record at No. 2 doubles.
Stroyne was 3-0 in singles play and 2-1 in doubles this past week, leading the Cardinals to a 3-0 team record which helped them secure the No. 2 seed in the upcoming OAC Tournament.
Stroyne and the rest of the Otterbein women’s tennis team will begin its quest for an OAC title when they host Marietta College in the conference quarterfinals Wednesday, May 1, at 4 p.m.
