SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Otterbein University men's golf team wrapped up its regular season on Monday with a second-place finish at the Rosecrans-Maurer Invite, hosted by Wittenberg at the Springfield Country Club.
The Cardinals shot a 579 as a team over the two-day event, good for three strokes over par, topping third-place Wooster by 23 strokes. Wittenberg captured first-place after shattering its school record for best score over two rounds with a 565. This was the seventh time this season in which Otterbein placed in the top-two in the final standings of an invite.Â
Senior
Adam Crider, who captured top-medalist honors, fired a 139 (71-68) on the par-72 course to outpace sophomore
Austin Wells by one stroke (71-69). Senior
David Monaco landed in seventh-place after shooting a 143 (72-71), while classmate
Luke Kindelin grabbed a share of 11th-place with a 147 (74-73).
Fellow senior
Kris Clarke, who was tied for the lead with Crider after one round, finished in a tie for 20th-place with a 150 (71-79), while sophomore
Tyler Elgin rounded out the team score for the Cards with a 168 (85-83). Junior
Andrew Kotey (172) and freshman
Ryan Karapas (175) found themselves in 62nd and 64th-place, respectively, among the individual competitors. Â
Otterbein will enjoy an 11-day break before competing in the OAC Championships at River Greens Golf Club in West Lafayette, Ohio.
