Women's soccer comes up short at Adrian

ADRIAN, Mich. – Playing in front of a beautiful Michigan sunset, the Otterbein University women's soccer team fell to Adrian College, 1-0. A first half goal by the Bulldogs proved to be the difference in the contest.

Adrian broke through the defense and caught a good break midway through the first half. In the 27th minute, the Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead with a goal to the near post.

In the final seconds, Otterbein was awarded a free kick just outside the box. With their best look, the ball sailed above the crossbar. Despite holding the advantage in shots and a sizable edge in corners (10-10), the Cardinals were unable to find the game-tying goal.

Ella Schwertfager tallied seven saves in goal.

The Cardinals will play one more road contest before returning to their home pitch. Otterbein travels to Hanover on Wednesday for a 5 p.m. start time.
