SCOTT MCCLEARY

Scott McCleary begins his 13th season as an assistant coach. He works with the hurdlers and short sprinters. McCleary rejoined the staff in 2003, having served as an assistant in 1996 and 1997. 

McCleary coached Otterbein’s first female indoor track All-America, Markita May, who finished seventh in the 55-meter hurdles at the 2003 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships. Overall, McCleary has coached six All-Americans at Otterbein.

A 1993 graduate of Otterbein, McCleary was a member of the 1990 squad, which captured the school’s first OAC men’s championship in outdoor track and field. A three-time OAC champion in the 110-meter high hurdles, he qualified for the NCAA Championships. He served as captain three seasons (1991-93).

McCleary works for the H. T. Hackney Company. He and his wife, Mary, and daughters, Maddison and Grace, reside in Hilliard.
