Tom Ryan entered his second year as a graduate assistant coach for the Otterbein Baseball program in 2024, overseeing the pitchers.
During his first season, pitchers Sam Sethna and Gavin Wolf earned All-OAC honors for a staff that helped the team go 27-13 overall.
Ryan, a 2020 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan, earned his bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Kinetics while spending all four years as a right-handed pitcher for the Battling Bishops. He made 24 appearances (mostly in relief) during a career that also saw a global pandemic, tossing 34.2 innings and holding a 2-1 record. His 2016 Bishop team made the NCAA Tournament.
Prior to Otterbein, Ryan served as the head pitching coach and JV coach for St. Charles Preparatory School. He also has experience as an instructor with D-BAT Columbus and coach of the Upper Arlington Junior Baseball Association.
Ryan works as a physical education teacher at Norton Middle School and was also a behavioral aide at Finland Elementary School.
