Monaco, a senior from Westerville North, fired a three-under par score of 141 at the Ohio Dominican Kickoff Classic on Tuesday, helping the men's golf team finish in second place.
Monaco got better as the one-day, 36-hole event progressed, following an opening-round 74 with a blistering 67 in his second go-around. He finished second in the field of 62 players, making 11 birdies and leading the tournament in par-4 scoring.
He came in just three strokes behind tournament winner Graham McAree, a Division II player from the University of Indianapolis.
