Lindsey and D'Errico Set Pole Vault Records at Last Chance

ADA, Ohio-Taylor Lindsey and Jenna D'Errico set Otterbein University indoor records, each clearing 12-2 in the pole vault Saturday at the Polar Bear Last Chance meet held Saturday at Ohio Northern University.

The pair, part of nine members from the men's and women's track and field teams to compete at Ohio Northern, solidified a spot in the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships scheduled to get underway Friday in Winston-Salem, N.C. Lindsey and D'Errico rank ninth in NCAA D-III this season.

"We are so proud of the combined efforts of our pole vaulters," said Otterbein head coach Dara Ford. "They do such a great job of feeding off of each other. They did exactly what they needed to do today. It was great."

Also competing at the non-scored meet were Shyla Cummings, 60-meter dash (7.80), Allie Thomas, 800-meter run (2:18.16), Richie Gopel, 800 (1:55.16), Victoria Konkle, mile run (5:11.06), Meredith Wesco, mile (5:11.13), Brandon Bruner, long jump (16-8), and Chris Saylor, pole vault (15-1 3/4).

"Richie and Allie both ran huge PR's in the 800," Ford said. "Meredith and Victoria both ran really solid races and PR'd also. On the whole, we had a great day. The athletes competed hard and we will be talking three women to the national meet next weekend."

In addition to Lindsey and D'Errico, sprinter Shyla Cummings is also expected to compete at the NCAA's. Cummings holds the 11th-fastest time in the 200-meter dash (25.48) and 17th-fastest time in the 60 (7.76).
