Cardinals Score Early and Often In Victory Over Manchester

MANCHESTER, Ind. – Otterbein scored early and often en route to a 6-0 victory over Manchester Saturday afternoon. The Cards took advantage of their early opportunities against the Spartans building a comfortable lead and never looking back.

With the victory Otterbein improves to 5-2 while Manchester is still searching for its first win of the year, now dropping to 0-9 overall.

It did not take long for the Cards to score as Annie Mosca registered her first goal of the 2018 campaign in the sixth minute. Shortly after, Priscilla Severance found the back of the net off of a Haley Hott corner kick increasing the Cardinal lead to two goals.

Bella Shivley joined in on the scoring action in the 36th minute notching her third goal of the young 2018 season. Otterbein dominated the shot total in the first half owning a 24-2 edge over the Spartans.

The second half would follow the same script as the first, scoring early, as Emerson Woerner was left unmarked burying a shot from just inside the 18-yard box. In the 57th minute, Myiah Kelley added to the scoring party on a rebound which goalkeeper Cami Hoffard could not keep possession of.

Shivley would not be satisfied with one goal, adding her second goal in the 62nd minute. Otterbein would coast for the final 28 minutes of action earning its third straight shutout, now outscoring opponents 12-0 in the last three matches.

Otterbein attempted 42 shots compared to three by Manchester, Erin Gordon has now earned three consecutive shutouts and her fifth on the season through seven matches. The Cardinals will have their final non-conference match Wednesday night against Hiram at Memorial Stadium.
