NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Otterbein women's lacrosse team got itself back to even in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) on Saturday afternoon, leaving Muskingum with a decisive 21-3 triumph.
The Cardinals now stand 6-9 overall and 3-3 in league play, while the host Muskies drop to 1-13 on the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Otterbein opened the game on a 4-0 run before Muskingum scored, but countered with more goals to balloon the lead to double digits with 5:15 to go before halftime.
- The Muskies scored twice before the half and Otterbein led 12-3 at the break.
- Otterbein held its opposition scoreless throughout the entire second half, netting a score from Abby Smoot just 32 seconds in and slowly pulling away.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Otterbein tallied five man-up goals throughout the second half as Muskingum played short-handed during spurts.
- Six Cardinals had multi-goal games, led by four from Smoot and Kiera Mulcahy along with a Julias Karas hat trick. Karas also won a season-high 10 draws.
- Otterbein finished with a 48-11 shot margin and did not allow Muskingum any free-position attempts.

Otterbein, most likely in a three-way tie with John Carroll and Ohio Northern by the end of the day for fourth in the OAC standings, will host a key game against ONU next Wednesday night at Memorial Stadium.
