WESTERVILLE, Ohio- After celebrating three decorated seniors on Wednesday night, the Cardinals collected their 12th win of the season, this time knocking off Wilmington, 2-0.
The Cardinals now stand at 12-1 overall and 6-0 inside the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC), while Wilmington falls to 5-8-2 and 2-3-1 in the OAC.

The Cards remains tied atop the OAC standings, now deadlocked with rival Capital after Heidelberg upset Ohio Northern on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Despite outshooting the Quakers 15-1 in the first 45 minutes, the Cardinals could not break the scoreless tie.

  • Lauren Galloway made 11 saves in the half to keep the Quakers in the game.

  • Just 25 seconds into the second half Otterbein finally found the back of the net when Bailey Zanella sent a pass ahead to the speedy Anjuli Anderson, who danced past her defender and sent a shot in. At first glance, the shot was saved, but it continued to bounce and eventually trickled over the line to give the Cards a 1-0 advantage.

  • Later on, the reigning OAC Player of the Week in Delaney Earl fed a pass to Morgan Somers, who buried it for a 2-0 lead.

  • The Cardinals kept the ball out of their defensive side and limited Wilmington to two more shots in the second half, while Otterbein took another 15.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • The Cardinals posted a final shot advantage of 30-3. They outshot Heidelberg 34-0 on Saturday and have now outshot their opponents 269-70 through 13 games.

  • Alaina Reher had a quiet senior night as she was only called upon to make one save.

  • The Otterbein offense posted another 12 corner kicks while keeping Wilmington from any; the defense has allowed 19 attempts all season.
UP NEXT:

On Saturday night, the Cards return to action when they travel to Muskingum for a 7 p.m. start in New Concord.
