WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Otterbein women's soccer collected its seventh win of the season in front of friends and family in attendance to celebrate one of the most decorated senior classes in program history.
The Cardinals, now 7-0 and tied for first place in the Ohio Athletic Conference with Ohio Northern, jumped out to a big lead early and rested their starters in the second half.
WHAT HAPPENED:
- The Cardinals honored 11 seniors before tonight's match, and it didn't take long for one of them to find the back of the net.
Â
- Bella Shivley scored just 1:53 into the contest with an assist from fellow senior Emily Ganz.
Â
- Ganz then scored a goal of her own just under a minute later.
Â
- Junior Delaney Earl wasn't going to let the seniors have all the fun though, as she netted her seventh score of the year in keeping pace with Shivley for the team lead.
Â
- Shivley scored her second of the game in the 18th minute and fellow seniors Priscilla Severance, Ashley Boy and Myiah Kelley all found the back of the net in the first half.
Â
- Cardinal starters rested the remainder of the contest in preparation for Thursday nights showdown with 7-0 ONU, a rematch of the 2019 OAC Championship game.
Â
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
Â
- The Cardinal defense posted its sixth clean sheet of the season, and has allowed just two goals in seven games.
Â
- Otterbein is now 13-0 against Muskingum since 2007, outscoring the Muskies 66-3 in that span.
Â
- Erin Gordon started in goal for Otterbein and split the first half with fellow senior Emma Spinner who made one save in 22 minutes of action. Alaina Reher played the entire second half and was not forced to make any saves.
