WESTERVILLE, Ohio- Otterbein Women's lacrosse returned home for the first time since February 26 to collect its second Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) win of the season in dominant fashion, 22-2, over undermanned Heidelberg.
The Cardinals improve to 4-5 on the season and 2-1 in OAC play, while the Student Princes, who played with just ten on the field, fall to 0-9 and 0-3.
WHAT WENT DOWN:
- The Cardinals jumped out to a commanding 9-0 lead after the first quarter of play; five different players scored a goal in the quarter.
- Heidelberg got on the board first in the second quarter, but the Cards scored five unanswered to end the quarter and hit the half up 14-1.
- The second half was played with a running clock as multiple different girls saw action on the offensive side.
- Otterbein outscored the Student Princes 8-1 in the final 30 minutes of action.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Abby Chappell and Logan Fox recorded their first goals of the season.
- Emily Willms and Lauren Newkirk led the offense with six goals, Nina Domanik added five, and Macey Buchanan netted two. Seven total players scored.
- The defense held Heidelberg to just 6 of 19 on clear attempts while forcing 22 turnovers; they allowed just six shots.
- The Cardinals cleared a near perfect 9 of 11 times while firing off 39 shots.
