Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Otterbein blanks Berg, earns No. 2 seed in OAC Tournament

TIFFIN, Ohio – In their regular season finale, the Otterbein University men's soccer team dominated in an 8-0 victory over Heidelberg University. The Cardinals will host an OAC Semifinal game at Memorial Stadium on Thursday, earning the No. 2 seed in the league. The eight goals are the most in a game by the Cardinals since an 8-1 win over Muskingum in 2019.

Drew Boettcher, Lincoln Wallace and Xavier Stocks all enjoyed two goal, one assist evenings.

Boettcher scored his first goal in the eighth minute. The senior found open space and dribbled through defenders before firing a shot to the left of the Heidelberg goalkeeper for an early 1-0 lead. Wallace scored his first of two goals in the first half, with the freshman's coming in the 25th minute. An initial shot by the Cardinals deflected off the foot of an HU defender, right to Wallace who buried the open shot.

Otterbein extended the lead to 3-0 when Stocks headed home a ball off a pass from Nick Isaac. Wallace played a pass to Isaac, who one-touched the cross to Stocks who capitalized for the Cardinals. In the final moments of the first half, Boettcher's second goal gave Otterbein a 4-0 lead. A pass ricocheted out to Boettcher, hammering a shot with his left foot from around 25 yards out.

In the 57th minute, Wallace found the back of the net for a second time. Off a throw in from Stocks, Wallace headed the shot past the Heidelberg keeper for a 5-0 cushion. Five minutes later, Boettcher found Stocks, who snuck past the Berg's back line to extend the advantage. Otterbein's seventh goal came courtesy of Carter Higgins. Awarded a free kick, Colm Oneacre delivered a ball to Higgins. With a smash off his right foot, he found the upper right corner of the net. Kasdin Hale provided the final goal for the visitors – coming off another header for the Cardinals.

Jayden Burdine and Austin Bodem split time in goal, combining for just one save. The Cardinals outshot the Berg, 22-5.

Thursday's semifinal match will take place between Otterbein and the winner of the 3 vs. 4 contest on Tuesday. Game time is still TBD at this time.
