WESTERVILLE – The top-seeded Otterbein women's soccer team saw its strong season come to a close Thursday night, falling 1-0 to No. 5 seed Ohio Northern in the OAC Tournament semifinals at Memorial Stadium.
After a tightly contested first half, the match remained scoreless until the 83rd minute when the Polar Bears converted a penalty kick following a handball in the box. The goal would stand as the difference, despite multiple late scoring chances from the Cardinals. Otterbein pushed until the final whistle, generating two quality looks on frame in the closing minutes but unable to find the equalizer.
The Cardinals finished with seven shots, including six on goal, and earned four corner kicks. Ohio Northern totaled 10 shots with three on goal, one corner, and six saves. Senior Rae Ehrbar and freshman Ainsley Curran each tallied two shots, both on target to pace the Otterbein offense, while seniors Alyssa Lemos and Camryn Earl added one shot apiece.
