Chase Garito earned All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors in men's basketball for the 2024-25 season, the league announced on Friday.
Evans was named to the All-OAC First Team, and Garito earned Honorable Mention honors. This marks the fourth career All-OAC accolade for Evans and the first for Garito.
A total of 21 student-athletes from across the league were recognized as All-OAC, including six on the First Team and Second Team and nine as Honorable Mention.
Evans has now earned First Team All-OAC recognition twice in his career. He became the first Cardinal since the 2010-11 season to earn First Team honors when he did so following the 2022-23 campaign and is Otterbein's first two-time First Team selection since Tyler Ousley ('05-'06, '06-'07). He was an Honorable Mention selection in 2021-22 and a Second Team pick in 2023-24 when he was also named Otterbein's male recipient of the OAC's Clyde Lamb Award for academic and athletic excellence.
Evans started all 26 of the Cardinals' games this season and closed the year averaging 18.1 points and 5 rebounds in 32.7 minutes per game. He made 161 field goals on 43.8% shooting and 40 3-pointers on a 33.9% success rate. He also made 109 free throws on 80.7% shooting from the line while tallying 60 assists and 19 steals.
Evans led the Cardinals in scoring average and made field goals, 3-pointers and free throws and ranked second on the team in minutes per game, rebounding average, assists and free-throw percentage. He was also third in steals and fourth in 3-point percentage.
Following Tuesday's season-ending OAC Tournament loss at Muskingum, during which he scored 19 points, Evans ranked second in the conference in scoring average, third in made free throws, fourth in made field goals and fifth in minutes per game and free-throw percentage.
Evans closed the year having scored in double figures in 22 of the 26 games, including 14 outings of 20-plus points. He recorded back-to-back double-doubles with 26 points and 10 rebounds at Marietta on Dec. 17 and 22 points and 10 rebounds against Olivet on Dec. 29. Earlier, on Dec. 1 against Kenyon, he scored a career-high 31 points. Named MVP of Otterbein's Smokey Ballenger Classic this season, he was selected as the OAC Player of the Week on Jan. 6.
In five seasons at Otterbein, Evans has played in 109 career games, making 85 starts. He has career averages of 15.6 points and 4.4 rebounds in 28.4 minutes per game while totaling 567 made field goals, 146 made 3-pointers, 418 made free throws, 211 assists and 95 steals. His 1,698 career points rank seventh all-time at Otterbein.
Garito played in all 26 games this season, starting 25 of them, and averaged 9.8 points and 4.2 rebounds in 24 minutes per contest. He made 108 field goals on 54.3% shooting while adding 15 3-pointers and 25 free throws on respective conversion rates of 34.9% And 69.4%. His final stat line also included 34 assists and seven steals.
He led the team in field-goal percentage and ranked second in made field goals, third in scoring and rebounding averages and fourth in minutes per game and assists. His field-goal percentage ranked sixth in the OAC.
Garito scored in double figures in 15 games on the year, including in seven straight games from Feb. 1 to Feb. 22. He scored a season-high 19 points against Ohio Northern on Feb. 19.
In two seasons at Otterbein, Garito has played in 52 career games, making 42 starts. He has career averages of 9.2 points and 4.2 rebounds in 21.6 minutes per game while shooting 55.8% from the floor.
