2024-25 CSC Academic All-District Men's Basketball Team

WESTERVILLE – Otterbein sophomore Chase Garito was named to the College Sports Communicators NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Academic All-District Team for the 2024-25 season, the organization announced Tuesday.

The CSC Academic All-District Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. To be eligible for Academic All-District distinction, student-athletes must be a sophomore or above in class standing with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50 while meeting athletic participation requirements. In men's basketball, the student-athlete must have played in at least 90%, or started at least 66%, of his team's games during the season.

Garito, a mechanical engineering major with a 3.75 GPA, earns CSC Academic All-District distinction for the first time in his career.

On the court, Garito played in all 26 of the Cardinals' games in 2024-25, starting 25 of them, and averaged 9.8 points and 4.2 rebounds in 24 minutes per contest. He scored in double figures in 15 games, including a season-high 19 points against Ohio Northern on Feb. 19, and finished with 256 points, 110 rebounds and 34 assists while shooting 54.3% from the floor, which ranked sixth in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

An All-OAC Honorable Mention and Academic All-OAC honoree this season, Garito has played in 52 games in his Otterbein career, making 42 starts. He has career averages of 9.2 points and 4.2 rebounds in 21.6 minutes per game with totals of 477 points, 219 rebounds, 67 assists, 16 blocks and 13 steals while shooting 55.8% from the floor.
