ALLIANCE, Ohio – Over the weekend, Director of Esports Henry Woofter was named the recipient of the University of Mount Union Young Alumni Award. Woofter, a 2023 Mount Union graduate was the youngest to ever receive the award and was this year's sole recipient.
According to the Mount Union website, the Young Alumni Award honors and recognizes those who, at very early stages in their chosen careers or callings, exemplify what Mount Union hopes all alumni will strive to achieve upon graduating from Mount Union. The award is given to graduates within the past 15 years of their outstanding support, leadership, and dedication to the University as young alumni.
Per Mount Union Alumni Association, "It was his success and leadership in the relatively new world of esports. He's achieved a tremendous amount in such a short time after graduating." ... "He had multiple nominations, which was positive too. That showed the impact he's had on multiple people."
Woofter was recognized over the weekend as part of the Homecoming festivities in Alliance. He is currently in his second year as the Otterbein Director of Esports, while also overseeing intramurals.
While at Mount Union, Woofter was part of the Purple Raider football and esports programs, earning all-conference accolades for his time on the esports team.
