Season-bests stack up at OWU Invitational

POWELL, Ohio – Back on the course at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational, the Otterbein University cross country teams finished in the top four of each of their respective races. The men placed second of 14 teams (73 points) while the women were fourth of 12 with 94 points.

Brady Pugh led the Cardinals, finishing fourth overall with a season-best race time of 25:42.2. Fellow senior Mitch Green took 10th, running a 25:56.6. With a time of 26:10.1, Tucker See was the next Cardinal to cross the finish line, earning 15th place in his season-best performance. Freshman Cameron Burke turned in a PR of 26:32.0, finishing 23rd to provide four top-25 Otterbein finishes.

Charlie Rundio clocked a new personal-best time of 26:46.7, while Corey Raffery ended the race in 27:02.8. Junior Henry Barnes added a PR time of 27:12.7, with Spencer Grace (27:15.7) and Brannon Moser (27:16.2) behind, also both recording PRs as well. Easton Miller (28:03.4, PR), Xavier Campbell (28:04.0, PR) and Aidan Castillo (28:15.2) all competed for Otterbein as well.

Following the men's race, the women hit the course, as Sarah Scarborough's season-low time of 23:01 led the way, earning the senior a ninth place finish. Brenna Lay placed 14th, clocking a season-low time of 23:13.1, while sophomore Kate Thormeier ran a 23:18.2 (season-best) to finish 19th. Ava Stratmann was the next Cardinal to cross, running a PR race of 23:34.7. Ella Degenhard's time of 23:48.6 was next for Otterbein, with Ollie Smith's 23:54.4 following.

All clocking in in bunches were Claire Speakman (24:14.0, PR), Eliza McDonald (24:17.1, season-best), Gigi Leiter (24:18.8, season-best), Violet Gies (24:18.8, PR) and Kierstin Knell (24:36.2, season-best). The next flock of Cardinals was led by Grace Blonde's 25:22.3, with Kennedy Helton (25:33.9, season-best) and Taylor Rockwell (25:37.0, PR) following. Magi Hallabrin rounded out the competitors with a personal-best 26:02.0.

The teams will be back in action at the Inter-Regional Rumble, hosted by Rowan on Oct. 17.
