Women's soccer drops OAC Semifinal match in overtime

BEXLEY, Ohio – In heartbreaking fashion, the No. 3 seeded Otterbein women's soccer team fell to No. 2 seed Capital, 2-1 in overtime in the OAC Tournament Semifinals.

Capital got good looks in the first half, but Otterbein goalkeeper Isabella Neal continued to turn away the hosts. The Comets eventually struck first with a goal in the 28th minute for a 1-0 lead. Holding Otterbein to limited opportunities in the first 45 minutes, the score stood at halftime.

Out of the half, the Cardinals pressured the Comets, getting decent chances early on. Sophomore Elaina Seif netted the equalizer in the 54th minute after the Cardinals were awarded a corner kick. Assisted by Sela Anderson, the Cards were able to tie the match at 1-1.

The two teams continued to have minimal chances with nothing to show. At the end of the full 90, the teams headed into overtime. In the golden goal format, Capital scored the game-winner in the 94th minute off a corner.

Neal made 11 saves in goal for the Cardinals, as Capital held a 20-5 edge in shots and an 8-5 advantage in corners.

With the loss, Otterbein's season comes to a close with a 9-8-1 record.
