Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Robey reaches 200 career points in home opener

WESTERVILLE – Another milestone highlighted the night, as the Otterbein University women's lacrosse team dropped a tough 12-7 decision to Ohio Wesleyan University. With a two goal, three assist evening, senior Ava Robey reached the 200 career point mark for the Cardinals.

A tight first quarter saw the two teams tied 1-1 after one stanza. Freshman Leela Henry tied the game with just under five minutes to go off a pass from Robey. In the second, the Cardinals rattled off four straight goals to claim a 5-1 lead. Kyla Klaus netted her first collegiate goal on a free position to kick off the scoring, followed by Robey's first goal of the night. Robey and Alyssa Glenn tallied the next two, but OWU answered with a pair of goals before the half. At the break, Otterbein held a slim 5-3 advantage.

Ohio Wesleyan opened the second half on a 4-0 run to take a 7-5 lead with just over four minutes to play in the third quarter. In the waning seconds, Henry notched another Cardinal goal to put Otterbein within one heading into the final 15 minutes. In the fourth quarter, OWU outscored Otterbein 5-1 to hold the lead and keep the Cardinals at an arm's length.

Henry recorded a hat trick and added one assist for a four point effort. She and Glenn led Otterbein with five draw controls apiece. Freshman Dakota Klein caused a Cardinal-best three turnovers in the loss.

Otterbein returns to action next Wednesday, hosting DePauw University. First draw is set for 5 p.m.
