ORLANDO, Fla. – The Otterbein University men's tennis team fell 7-0 to Hampden-Sydney Tuesday morning in non-conference action.
Hampden-Sydney seized early control by sweeping the three doubles matches to take the opening point. The No. 1 pairing of Jake Chilcote and Nikita Kitaev dropped a close 6-4 decision, while Max Fickas and Neil Reddy also fell 6-4 at No. 2 doubles. Zach Frederick and Sanjan Shanker rounded out the doubles lineup with a 6-2 result at the third position.
The Tigers carried that momentum into singles play to complete the match. Fickas turned in one of the Cardinals' most competitive outings, claiming the second set before ultimately falling in a third-set super tiebreak at No. 2 singles. Chilcote battled in a tight straight-set match at the No. 3 position, while Shanker, Kitaev, Reddy, and Elivh Perez also competed across the lineup.
Otterbein continues its spring break slate Thursday afternoon with a 1 p.m. matchup against Loras College in Orlando.
