WLAX rolls past Muskingum in OAC finale

NEW CONCORD, Ohio – In their OAC finale, the Otterbein University women's lacrosse team rolled to a 24-6 win over Muskingum University. The 24 goals were the most in a game since 2020 when the Cardinals defeated Franciscan, 25-4.

Freshman Leela Henry and senior Ava Robey each finished with eight points for the Cardinals. Henry's came via five goals and three assists, while Robey scored four times and dished out four assists. Alyssa Glenn added five goals, as Madi McIntosh turned in a terrific performance with three goals and three assists.

After an early Muskingum goal, the story was all Otterbein, firing off six consecutive goals. Two goals from Glenn were followed by strikes from Robey and Henry before a third Glenn goal of the period. Karley Gerst added one more before a second Muskie goal, but Gerst's second goal of the day helped the visitors build a 7-2 lead at the end of one.

The Cardinals rattled off eight goals in the second to increase the lead to 15-3 by halftime. McIntosh, Robey, Henry, Dakota Klein and Kyla Klaus all scored in the period. All momentum stayed with Otterbein in the second half, as Olivia Blau became the eighth different Cardinal to score with a goal late in the fourth quarter.

McIntosh controlled five draws, while Glenn led all players with nine draw controls. Henry caused three of the team's six turnovers.

The Cardinals will have one final tune-up before the OAC Tournament – a non-conference game at Grove City on Wednesday. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
