Otterbein University Athletics

Henry Woofter enters his second season as the director and head coach for the Otterbein esports program in the 2026-27 school year. He also oversees the Otterbein intramural sorts program. 

During his first season with the Cardinals, he led the team to a 35-39 overall record, highlighted by postseason success on the regional and national stages. Under his direction, Otterbein secured Top 8 finishes in the Midwest R6 Division 1 during the fall and spring seasons, leading to a Top 32 national ranking. The Cardinals also finished in the Top 8 in the ECAC Division A during the fall season. In his first season, Otterbein knocked off Division I opponents Cincinnati, Michigan State, Murray State, Iowa, Illinois State, Wisconsin and Penn State. 

Woofter came to Otterbein after serving as a graduate assistant for Esports at Valparaiso University in Indiana since June 2023. At Valparaiso, he executed the day-to-day operations of the Esports program, including overseeing six coaches, 50 players and 17 student employees, and coordinated and managed production for over 100 streams per year as well as social media and content creation. Among many other responsibilities, he also aided in recruiting and led service and philanthropic efforts for the program.

Prior to his time at Valparaiso, Woofter served as Esports coach at Carey High School, where he developed and implemented training programs for players in League of Legends, Rocket League and Super Smash Bros.

Woofter is currently a member and mentor in the Nation Association of College Espotrts (NACE) and chairs the Rust Belt Conference (RBC) awards committee. He has previously served in roles within the Missouri Valley Conference esports committee and Great Lakes Conference Esports Board of Directors and awards committee. 

Woofter is a 2023 graduate of the University of Mount Union, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with a minor in sociology. During his time at Mount Union, he was a four-time All-Conference honoree in Esports and a three-year member of the football team. He holds a Master of Science in Sport Administration from Valparaiso.
