Chris Allen begins his first season as an assistant coach for the men’s soccer program.
Allen, 28, arrived to Otterbein after spending one year as the assistant varsity soccer coach at nearby Olentangy Libery High School, where the squad finished with an 8-3-4 record in 2016-17. He also coaches with the Classics Eagles club.
A native of St Catherine, Jamaica, Allen completed his four-year collegiate playing career at NAIA Mount Vernon University from 2008-11. A forward, Allen finished his career ranked ninth in school history for goals and assists, eighth in school history for total points, and was part of Mount Vernon’s first, and only, NAIA Final Four team. It remains the program’s only national tournament appearance to date.
Following his collegiate career, Allen stayed on as a member of the MVNU men’s soccer coaching staff from 2012-15. He aided the team in accomplishing numerous accolades during that span, including 11 all-region honorees, nine all-conference selections and 16 NAIA/NCCAA academic awards. In 2015, he was also instrumental in starting of the junior varsity program where he served as head coach and posted a 5-0 record.
Allen, who holds a USSF National D License, currently resides in Sunbury with his wife, Amanda, and their son, CJ.
