Shelley Payne is a physical therapist and athletic trainer with over 15 years of sports medicine experience. Shelley came to Otterbein full-time in 2004 as the first physical therapist in partnership with MAX Sports Medicine.

Shelley now holds a full-time academic appointment at Otterbein as an assistant professor, but maintains clinical hours as a rehabilitation specialist in the Freeman Athletic Training Room and acts as a Clinical Preceptor within the Athletic Training Education Program. Her areas of clinical expertise include lower extremity biomechanics and knee injury prevention and rehabilitation.

Shelley most recently earned her Doctorate of Health Sciences from the University of Indianapolis. She also completed her Masters’ of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Indianapolis and a BA in Physical Education from DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind.

Shelley and her husband, Bryan live in Mount Vernon with their children, Megan, 11, and Ethan, 8.
