Otterbein University Athletics

Justin Schmitz is in his first year as an assistant softball coach at Otterbein University in the 2025-26 academic year.

Justin brings 16 years of competitive play and coaching experience to the staff, combining high-level softball knowledge with a disciplined, athlete-first approach to development. 

Schmitz is in his fifth year as a Team USA coach and was a head coach for the USA All American team, both contributing to elite-level player development and national competition exposure. His experience at the national levels has shaped a coaching philosophy centered on preparation, adaptability, and performance under pressure and is also a certified hitting and fielding instructor. 

Off the field, Justin and his wife Vanessa live in Ashland and has 4 children.
