Gerry D’Arcy enters his 28th season as the head men’s soccer coach at Otterbein University this fall.

Under his direction, the Cardinals have advanced into the NCAA Division III Tournament five times, winning five post-season Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Tournaments, as well as winning or sharing the OAC regular-season title four times.

D’Arcy helped lead Otterbein to its best season ever in 2002. The Cardinals recorded a school and conference record 23 wins and finished second in the NCAA Division III Tournament, falling to Messiah College in the national title game.

The Cardinals captured both the OAC regular-season and tournament championships in 2002, earning D’Arcy OAC Coach of the Year, Ohio Coach of the Year, and Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year honors. He was also selected OAC Coach of the Year in 1997 and 1999.

A native of London, England, D’Arcy possesses an extensive coaching background. He is a USSF “A” licensed coach and has worked as a staff coach for the USSF licensing other coaches. He has conducted coaching sessions for the NSCAA and is a coordinator for Great Britain Soccer Camps, Inc. D’Arcy worked as a staff coach for the Olympic Development Program at the district, state, and regional level for many years.

D’Arcy completed his undergraduate teaching qualifications at prestigious Loughborough University in England and his master’s degree at Kent State University.

“We aim to give our athletes a four-year education in soccer,” D’Arcy says. “Our concern is the process of effort, growth and enjoyment in their college soccer experience. Team and personal recognition and awards will be natural by-products of this endeavor.”
