BEREA, OHIO – Otterbein fell victim to red hot Baldwin-Wallace Saturday afternoon, suffering a 75-53 loss at the Ursprung Gymnasium in Berea.
The loss drops Otterbein to 6-10 overall and 3-6 in league play. The victory is the Yellow Jackets seventh in a row, moving them to 12-4 on the season, 8-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
The Cardinals played close early and trailed by just four, at 17-13 after sophomore Natalie Conkle made a jumper with 9:20 to go in the opening half.
Ahead 24-17 with a little over four minutes remaining before intermission, BW mounted a 13-4 run, including the first ten points of the spurt, to open up a 37-21 advantage by halftime.
Otterbein was never able to get closer than 13 points in the second half as the Jackets pushed the lead to as many as 27 before earning the 75-53 win.
Sophomore guards Shea McCoy combined to score 25 of the team’s 53 points, shooting a combined 9-of-20.
BW was led by an 18 points, nine rebound performance from reigning OAC Player of the Week Amanda Schroeder.
Baldwin-Wallace shot .483 from the field compared to just .308 for OC.
The game will be broadcasted by SportsTime Ohio on Saturday, Jan. 16 at 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 17 at 2:00 p.m. and Monday, Jan. 18 at 7:00 a.m.
Otterbein next hits the court a week from today, hosting Ohio Northern in the Rike Center. Tip-off for that contest is set for 3 p.m.
