Polar Bears Turn Back Lady Cards 69-53

ADA, OHIO – The Otterbein University women’s basketball team (2-5, 0-2 OAC) lost 69-53 in conference action at Ohio Northern University (5-1, 2-0 OAC) Wednesday evening. 

The Cards hopped out to a quick 6-0 lead, but the Polar Bears stormed right back to take a 16-8 advantage at the 12:16 mark. 

Otterbein stayed closed at trailed just 18-15 with nine minute to go before the half, but ONU went on a quick 7-0 run over the next two minutes. 

The Cards scored the game’s next nine points to close to within one, at 25-24, and the hosts would hold a slim 33-30 edge at the break. 

Otterbein tied the contest at 35-35 in the opening minutes of the second half, and trailed by just a point, at 38-37, five minutes in. 

Northern then found some momentum to spring to a 51-41 lead, and opened a 60-46 lead with 6:46 showing on the game clock. 

ONU would stay strong and eventually play to the 69-53 victory. 

Sophomore Hannah Day led the Otterbein attack with 13 points, while junior Shea McCoy added 11.
ONU’s Joanna Snyder led all scorers with 14, while two others scored 11. 

Ohio Northern shot .472 from the field compared to just .339 for Otterbein, and the Bears used a 14-of-20 effort from beyond the arc to fuel their scoring output. 

The Cardinals stay on the road this week, traveling to take on Marietta Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
