Box Score

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Otterbein University suffered its second loss to a Top-15 team Wednesday evening, falling 71-43 to 15th-ranked Ohio Northern University inside the Rike Center.

The loss drops Otterbein to 6-2 on the season and 2-2 in Ohio Athletic Conference play, while the win improves ONU to 10-1 overall and a perfect 5-0 against league schools.

Both teams opened the game at a sluggish pace, with Otterbein missing 18 of its first 20 attempts from the field.

The Cardinal defense limited the Polar Bears on the other end, however, and Otterbein trailed 13-11 after a Hannah Day jumper with 7:25 remaining before the half.

Ohio Northern then found a groove offensively, scoring the next six points and ultimately getting a buzzer-beating three-pointer to gain a 36-23 advantage entering halftime.

The Polar Bears opened the second half on a 10-0 run and never looked back en route to the win.

Sophomores Tabatha Piper and Madi Miller led Otterbein with eight points each, while Day finished with seven after seeing her night cut short with an injury minutes before halftime.

Morgan Dumbaugh scored 13 to lead four Ohio Northern players in double figures. Cenzie Yoder and Brooke Epenschied scored 12 apiece while Joanna Snyder had 11.

ONU shot .452 for the contest while Otterbein endured a season-low .217 (13 of 60) from the field.

The Cardinals finish out the week at Baldwin Wallace University Saturday afternoon. Tip-off from Berea is scheduled for 3 p.m.
