UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Cardinal women's basketball team dropped a road game in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play Wednesday night, striking a second-half comeback before unfortunately falling 81-67 at 17th-ranked John Carroll University.

Otterbein (5-15, 2-11 OAC) will stay on the road to finish out the week, traveling to Baldwin Wallace for a 3 p.m. game Saturday afternoon.

The Cardinal offense struggled early at JCU, scoring just eight points over the first 12 minutes as the hosts built a double-digit advantage.

John Carroll eventually took a 40-24 halftime lead, but Otterbein hung tough and began chipping away at the deficit in the second period, closing to within single digits, 62-54, with 6:52 left to play.

The Cards trailed by five after a three-pointer from Mary Corbett with 2:13 remaining, but JCU managed to hold off the Otterbein rally and preserve the win.

Forward Amariah Huck led the Cardinal offense with 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field. Madi Miller matched her season-high with 13 off the bench while Corbett posted nine.

OAC leading-scorer Kaitlyn Spahar poured in 29 points for JCU, which also received 20 points from Beth Switzler.
