Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Otterbein women's basketball team came up short in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play Saturday afternoon, falling by a score of 68-60 at the University of Mount Union.
The Cardinals, now 8-9 on the season and 3-7 within league play, will be back in action this coming Wednesday with a home game against league-leading Ohio Northern University. Game time will be 7:30 p.m.
Otterbein got off to a good start, taking a 21-14 lead after one quarter of play behind nine points from freshman
Dani Kissel. The Raiders would battle back in the second, outscoring the Cardinals 18-7 in the period en route to a 32-28 halftime advantage.
Mount Union (13-4, 7-3) began to find some breathing room in the third quarter, widening its margin to as many as 15, at 52-37, on a jumper from leading-scorer Annie Bova with less than a minute to play in the frame.
The Purple and White maintained the double-digit lead throughout most of the fourth quarter, but Otterbein did fight to the finish and closed the final deficit back into single digits.
Kissel finished with 17 to lead Otterbein, which also got 12 from freshman
Ali Cartnal and 11 from senior
Amariah Huck.
Bova dropped a game-high 18 to lead Mount Union while teammate Katie Reed added 11. The hosts finished with a 26-8 edge in bench points.Â
