WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Cardinal grapplers dropped an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) wrestling dual Tuesday evening inside the Rike Center, falling by a score of 30-9 to visiting Ohio Northern University.

Otterbein, now 12-5 on the season and 1-3 within the conference, will have a week off to regroup before heading to take on John Carroll University next Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Ohio Northern, ranked No. 20 in the national poll a few weeks back before recently dropping out, improves itself to 10-2 overall and a perfect 3-0 in conference duals.

The Polar Bears tallied momentum-changing victories early on in the 125 and 149-pound matches, registering late takedowns in the closing seconds to escape with one-point decisions both times.

ONU built a 24-0 lead before the Cardinals hit the scoreboard, getting yet another first-round pin from 184-pounder Corbin Bunsold and then a decision courtesy of Drew Kasper at 197. Bunsold now has 19 falls on the year while Kasper upped his individual mark to 22-4.

Ohio Northern finished off the night with a pin in the 285-pound heavyweight division, remaining locked in a tie atop the conference standings with Baldwin Wallace and Heidelberg.

Otterbein will host its final home dual of the season following the matchup next week at John Carroll, taking on Lourdes University on Saturday, Feb. 11 in the morning.
