UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Otterbein women's soccer team secured its eighth-straight victory Wednesday night on the road following a 5-1 victory over host John Carroll at Don Shula Stadium.
The Cardinals now improve to 10-2 overall, 4-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while John Carroll drops to 4-8-1 and 1-3 OAC against the league.
Otterbein started the scoring party in the second minute of action, as
Bella Shivley took the first corner kick of the evening and successfully found the head of
Emily Ganz to give the Cards an instant 1-0 lead. A foul occurred inside the JCU box during the 16th minute, and Shivley would take the penalty kick for Otterbein en route to recording her ninth goal of the season.
Reigning OAC 'Offensive Player of the Week'
Delaney Earl continued her string of strong performances, this time scoring in the 31st minute and giving the Cards a 3-0 edge. Her first goal at Baldwin Wallace over the weekend came in the 33rd minute.
Otterbein had dominated the total shots, 15-3, by intermission and also owned a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.
John Carroll would find the back of the net in 64th minute, as Jaclyn Audino beat goalkeeper
Erin Gordon for the lone Blue Streak goal. The Cardinal attack answered the bell immediately after in the 67th minute, as Earl registered her team-high 10th goal of the 2018 campaign.
Myiah Kelley put the cherry on top in the 76th minute off an assist from
Emma Haussler.
The Cardinals have have outscored their OAC opponents 16-2 over the four matches thus far. Otterbein will put its winning streak of eight games on the line Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. against Heidelberg inside Memorial Stadium.
