WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein women's soccer team defeated Marietta, 2-0, Tuesday night at Memorial Stadium earning its 300th victory in program history.

The Cardinals won their 100th game back in 2004, their 200th in 2010, as assistant coach Rachel Denz scored the game-winning goal in overtime against John Carroll, and tonight in tough weather conditions. Despite an hour long weather delay to start the match, the Cardinals came out scoring two first-half goals en route their sixth-straight victory.

Annie Howell started the scoring action in the fourth minute, as Bella Shivley crossed the ball into the box and Emily Ganz played a header to the unmarked Howell who converted for her first goal of the season.

Shivley received a perfect through ball from Emily Ganz in the 16th minute, and promptly made a slick move in the box beating goalkeeper Katie Conkle for her team-high seventh goal of the year.

At the break, Otterbein led 2-0 and owned a 15-1 edge in the shot column with five being on goal. Shivley attempted a shot from nearly 25 yards out, midway through the second half, forcing Conkle to punch the ball away. The Cardinal defense would keep the ball out of harm's way in the second half, only allowing one true chance by Marietta.

As a defensive unit Otterbein has now recorded six-straight shutouts and, during that stretch, opponents have attempted just 16 total shots with seven being on goal. Otterbein now improves to 8-2, 2-0 OAC with the win, while Marietta drops to 3-7-1, 0-2 OAC.

Following three straight home matches, Otterbein will go on the road to Baldwin Wallace Saturday at 1 p.m.
