WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein women's soccer team found its footing at Memorial Stadium Wednesday night by defeating Ohio Wesleyan, 3-0, behind a trio of goals from three underclassmen.

The Cards improve to 3-2 on the season with the victory, bouncing back from a tough week that saw road losses at nationally-ranked Denison and Centre.

Freshman Delaney Earl started the scoring for Otterbein in the 10th minute as Bella Shivley played a through ball, which Ohio Wesleyan goalkeeper Mack Brunke pushed away momentarily. Earl stayed with the play, however, wrestling the ball from Brunke and finishing into an open net.

Otterbein saw multiple opportunities over the next 35 minutes but went into the intermission only leading 1-0. The Cardinals owned an 11-0 advantage in the shot category while attempting eight corner kicks compared to zero by the Battling Bishops.

The Cards extended their lead in the 64th minute when a foul occurred inside the Ohio Wesleyan box, resulting in Emily Ganz connecting on a penalty kick for her second goal of the year. One minute later, Priscilla Severance beat multiple OWU defenders before playing a ball in the middle of the box to an unmarked Myiah Kelley, who finished in the left corner to cap the night's scoring.

The Otterbein defense did an excellent job of keeping the Battling Bishops (1-2-1) away from the net, not allowing a single shot to be on target. The Tan and Cardinal ended with a 24-2 edge in the shot column and 13-2 in corner kicks.

Otterbein goalie Erin Gordon was not forced into much action over her full 90 minutes, but Brunke had to make nine saves in the visitor net.

The Cards will have the remainder of the week off before hosting Wittenberg next Tuesday at 7 p.m.
