WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein women's soccer team opened up Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play Saturday night defeating Mount Union 2-0 at Memorial Stadium. The Cardinals now improve to 7-2, 1-0 OAC on the season, while Mount Union drops to 3-5, 0-1 OAC

Otterbein was able to find the back of the net in the 10th minute as Delaney Earl beat a Purple Raider defender finding an unmarked Emily Ganz in the box for her third goal of the 2018 season. Ganz nearly scored another goal in the 18th minute just missing the mark off a cross by Priscilla Severance.

Majority of the possessions would take place on Mount Union side of the pitch, resulting in the Cardinals owning an 11-2 edge in the shot column.

The second half would once again be dominated by the Tan and Cardinal. In the 49th minute, Bella Shivley attempted a free kick just outside the 18 yard box which sailed right above the crossbar.

Otterbein would find its second goal of the match in the 54th minute as Holly Bernhold was able to beat a Mount Union defender recording her first goal of the season.

With the shutout, Otterbein has not allowed a goal in 450 minutes of action. Erin Gordon had a quiet evening en route to her seventh shutout of the year. The Cardinals owned a 31-3 shot advantage with 17 being on target.

Otterbein will be back in action Tuesday night as they host Marietta at 7 p.m.
