OBERLIN, Ohio – The Otterbein men's soccer team continued its winning ways Wednesday night defeating Oberlin 2-1, behind two goals from
Eric Stucky.
The No. 11-ranked Cardinals built a two-goal lead with both goals coming in the second half, with Oberlin scoring its lone goal shortly after Stucky's second goal. In the first half both the Cardinals and the Yeoman created opportunities, but neither were able to find the back of the net.
At the break Otterbein recorded eight shots and four corner kicks, but were unable to finish the opportunities at hand. Goalkeeper
Collin Hoffmann kept the Yeomen off the scoreboard recording three saves in the first 45 minutes of action.
The Cards opened up the second half on a strong note, beginning in the 54th as
Erick Juarez-Manning dribbled down the right sideline and eventually crossing the ball into the box. His pass found the head of Stucky, who manufactured his first goal of the contest.
Stucky then scored his second goal of the game in the 67th minute, this time when
Kennedy Mensah crossed the ball from the far side of the pitch into the box and Stucky finished off the play by burying a shot.
The Yeomen got on the scoreboard in the 77th minute as Jack McMillin scored his first goal of the year. The Cardinals defense stayed strong for the final 14 minutes of action, not allowing another Oberlin goal, earning back-to-back 2-1 victories.
Hoffmann recorded four saves on the night and the Otterbein offense registered 13 shots, nine of which were on target. Next up, Otterbein will travel to Richmond, Indiana taking on Earlham College Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
