WESTERVILLE, Ohio- With the sun shining down inside chilly Memorial Stadium Otterbein women's soccer was able to emerge victorious in convincing fashion Saturday afternoon, besting visiting Baldwin Wallace, 5-0. The win moves Otterbein to 10-1-1 and 3-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference while the Yellow Jackets slip to 7-7 and 0-3 in the OAC.
Otterbein showed early why they have the fifth ranked scoring offense in all of division three. At 18:34
Myiah Kelley sent a floating cross to
Priscilla Severance who used precise touch to open the scoring flood gates, putting the Cardinals ahead 1-0. Just moments later at 19:15 like a flash
Bella Shivley shook her defender at midfield and chipped a pass ahead to
Delaney Earl who arched a shot with ease over the head of the Yellow Jacket goalkeeper Emma Bruno giving the Cardinals a 2-0 advantage.
The Cards failed to score the remainder of the half, despite outshooting BW 13-2.
The quick strike offense showed its face again to start the second half as the dynamic duo of Severance and Kelley struck again, this time with Severance locating Kelley for the score. Fresh off setting the all-time scoring record with 100 points, Shivley decided to add to it with her second assist of the day at 58:46, this time with Kelley on the receiving end for her second goal of the day, putting the Cards ahead 4-0.
Otterbein wrapped up its impressive offensive performance with
Ashley Boy toeing the end line and locating freshly into the game freshman
Grace Dunaway in front of the net. Using excellent balance Dunaway was able to fight off a defender for the ball while also shooting it past BW keeper Bruno.
Erin Gordon made the start in net for the Cardinals, playing 79 minutes and making two saves. She was relieved of her duties at 78:36 by
Alaina Reher who came on to make one save in the closing stages of the match.
The Cardinals have now won six consecutive games, outscoring their opponents 28-3 over that stretch, including three shutouts.
Otterbein will be back in OAC action Wednesday night hosting John Carroll, game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
