WESTERVILLE, Ohio- Otterbein men's soccer used an impressive second half of offense to fly past visiting Heidelberg, 3-0. With the victory the Cards improve to 9-5 and 3-2 in the OAC, while Heidelberg drops to 3-9-1 and 1-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Otterbein played a strong first half, outshooting the visiting Student Princes 8-5, but could not break through.

  • Fans in attendance remained quiet into the second half until the announcement of one dollar pizza brought energy into Memorial Stadium.

  • Making an impressive pass ahead Kennedy Mensah located the freshman phenom Gabe Sharrock streaking ahead of the defense to put Otterbein ahead 1-0 at 58:12.

  • The first goal was the remedy the Cards needed as they struck again at 77:15 when Mensah buried a penalty shot following a Heidelberg handball in the box.

  • Minutes after checking into the game Pau Piang sent a pass wide to Kyle Haberkorn, using one move Haberkorn dribbled past his defender and finished far post to give the Cards a 3-0 lead.

  • Heidelberg appeared to score in the late stages of the game when a shot off a cross hit the top pipe and bounced down, the goal was not allowed as Collin Hoffmann once again came to the rescue.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Collin Hoffmann made five saves for the Cardinals, and posted yet another clean sheet in the victory.

  • Otterbein finished the match with a commanding 26-9 shot advantage.
UP NEXT:
  • The Cards will be back in action on Wednesday night, hosting Wilmington for a 7 p.m. start.
