Cardinals Slip at Capital

COLUMBUS, Ohio- Otterbein wrapped up the regular season Saturday night by way of traveling 14 miles south to Bernlohr stadium to face-off with the Capital Crusaders. The Cardinals were unable to find the back of the net and finish the season falling to Capital 2-0. The loss drops the Cardinals to 14-3-1 and 7-2 in Ohio Athletic Conference action. Capital finishes its regular season improving to 14-5 and 7-2 in the OAC.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Capital got an early lead on the Cards, something teams have struggled to do this season, when Avery Hart scored an unassisted goal at 35:06.

  • The score came from 25-yards out and snuck just inside the post and in front of the outstretched arms of Cardinal goalie Erin Gordon.

  • The Crusaders got another goal with just under four minutes to go in the first half when Emily Mathias found Maggie Peddicord for the score.

  • Capital held a 2-0 halftime lead and used the momentum to hold on for the second 45 minutes, handing the Cards just their third loss of the season.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • The Crusaders outshot Otterbein 11-7, the last time the Cardinals were outshot was September 19th in a 3-3 tie with Adrian.

  • Capital earned four corners on the evening, the Cards managed just one.
