WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Otterbein men's lacrosse team dropped its final non-conference outing of the year Wednesday night at Memorial Stadium, falling 19-4 to a strong Kenyon College team under the lights.
The Cardinals, now 5-3 on the year, will look to quickly regroup and get set to commence Ohio Athletic Conference play Saturday at Mount Union. Start time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
The Lords (5-3) won almost every faceoff in the first quarter to build a 5-1 lead, with Otterbein's lone goal coming from sophomore
Nawny Bailey at the 3:14 mark. Kenyon maintained control and ultimately took a 9-2 lead into the break.
Otterbein opened the second half behind a goal from reigning OAC Player of the Week
Joe Sanfillipo, but it would be all Kenyon going forward as the visitors closed the game on a 10-1 run. The Lords finished with a 40-22 shot advantage and captured 17 of 27 faceoffs.
Sanfillipo scored twice on the night while Kenyon had five players tally multiple goals, led by four from Will Harrigan. Kenyon goalie David Metzger made 11 saves in the visitor net, while Cardinal cagers
Zachary Groene and
Bryce Perram also combined for 11.
