ORLANDO, Fla. – The Cardinal women's lacrosse team lost a pair of games in Florida during its spring break trip, falling to U.S. Merchant Marine on Monday morning before another defeat to SUNY Oneonta 48 hours later.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Merchant Marine, going 15-2 last season, pulled away from Otterbein on Monday in Clearwater by taking a 12-1 lead entering halftime. The Mariners ultimately posted a 19-2 win, forcing the Cards into committing 27 turnovers.
- Oneonta jumped out to a 10-0 lead midway through the first half at Disney, eventually cruising to a 22-2 decision. The Red Dragons (3-1) were 13 of 15 on clear attempts while Otterbein went just 7 of 17.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORES:
- Sophomore Kiera Mulcahy had four points on the trip, scoring three goals and also setting up Abby Smoot for another. Cameron Finnegan tallied a point as well, finding Mulcahy in the Merchant Marine outing.
- Sophomore Julia Karas snagged eight draw controls across the two outings while goalie Allison Rhoads had 10 combined saves.
UP NEXT:
Otterbein (0-5) will travel back up north with a full week off to regroup before heading to play Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati next Wednesday night.
