Bring Forth a W : Men's Lacrosse Stays Perfect in OAC

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – A fifth-straight victory was posted by the Otterbein men's lacrosse team Wednesday night inside Memorial Stadium, as the Cardinals flew out from the get-go to secure a comfortable win over Marietta College.

Otterbein, advancing to 10-3 on the season, remains a perfect 5-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) with a big rivalry game looming this coming weekend. The Cardinals will travel across town to Capital with first place on the line, as the Crusaders also stand 5-0 against the league in the midst of an 11-game winning streak.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Otterbein wasted no time putting Marietta at arm's length, opening the game on an 8-0 run behind the hot stick of sophomore Xander Seal. He tallied six points (4G, 2A) in less than a quarter.

  • Marietta settled in as Otterbein began to rotate its lineup, scoring three times in the second period as the Cardinals led 13-4 entering the break.

  • The Pioneers only trailed 13-6 midway through the third, but Otterbein made sure it didn't get any closer by rattling off three-straight goals from Judston Huston, Jake Grundey and Dekaider Jackson.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Otterbein posted a 44-19 shot margin and won 23 of the 30 faceoffs. Mike Roman went a near perfect 12 of 13 while sharing the X with Jason McDonald and Thomas Baert. That duo went a solid 11 of 17 in relief.

  • The Cards had 11 different players score, including two-goal nights from Jackson, Joe Sanfillipo, Travis Barr and Drew McDonald.

  • Goalie Bryce Perram earned the win in goal, making four saves before giving way to Trevor Rusk in the fourth. Otterbein's man-down unit continued its effectiveness by limiting the Pioneers to a 1 of 8 output.

UP NEXT:

Game time for the cross-town showdown in Bexley is scheduled for 1 p.m. from Bernlohr Stadium. Otterbein dropped a wild 15-13 game against Capital last season after leading 8-5 at intermission.
