HANOVER, Indiana- Women's soccer wrapped up its non-conference schedule today, defeating Hanover 2-1 thanks to a late goal from
Priscilla Severance. With the win the Cardinals move to 7-1-1 on the year, while Hanover drops to 3-4-1.
Hanover struck first, scoring quickly at 23:33. Autumn Boothby scored her fourth goal of the season for the Panthers when she was able to dribble up the side line and bury a long shot, giving Hanover the 1-0 advantage.
The Otterbein offense fell silent in the first half, failing to score before the break after a stretch of high scoring outings. Hanover took the 1-0 advantage into the half, converting on one of its two first half shots. The Cardinals took seven shots in the first frame, with just one on net where Panther goalie Amanda Carmosino was able to keep the Cards off the board.
It took until the 71st minute for Otterbein to get on the board when
Myiah Kelley was able to shoot through a defenders legs and score for the Cards, tying the game 1-1.
The clock kept winding down as things looked like they were heading for over time until
Bella Shivley was able to corral a bouncing ball at the midfield and find
Emily Ganz in the corner. Ganz took the Shivley pass and sent it into the box where an unmarked
Priscilla Severance was able to score her first goal of the season, putting the Cardinals up 2-1 at 87:54.
Erin Gordon made one save on the day, as Hanover was only able to produce two shots on net. Otterbein outshot the host Panthers 15-7, with six shots on goal.
The Cardinals will have a week of rest before opening up OAC play next Saturday when they travel to Mount Union on October 5th, game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
