FINAL RESULTS
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Otterbein wrestling team improved to 13-2 in dual matches on the season Wednesday night, settling in midway through en route to a comfortable 38-15 victory at Case Western Reserve.
The Cardinals, recently returning from a month-long holiday break, will now have the weekend off to regroup before heading to Alliance next Tuesday for a matchup with nationally-ranked Mount Union.
Otterbein had to forfeit the opening bout but countered with a decision from
Cole Jackson, followed with a pin by fellow freshman
Chris Hager. The Cards eventually took the lead for good, getting an 18-0 tech fall from
Ryan Whitten (157 lbs) and never trailing again on the night.
Otterbein claimed four of the last five bouts, beginning with three-straight pins from
Willy Plaisir,
Joey Bradberry and No. 21-ranked
Corbin Bunsold. Bradberry and Bunsold's falls both came in under two minutes.
Heavyweight
Drew Kasper punctuated the evening with a pin of his own, coming at 2:28 of the initial round. The nationally-ranked trio of Whitten, Bunsold and Kasper is now a combined 67-6 on the season.
